What can four guys do, when they get their friends and family together to support the idea of starting a little microbrewery tucked away in the back of an old print shop? Who would possibly support an idea like that? The very thought is… lunacy.
For Ed Gledhill, Mike Lees, Rick Lees, and Jay Macrina, the idea actually was (or rather became) Lunacy Brewing Company in Magnolia, NJ.
Every Friday and Saturday, the brewery opens for educational tastings that combine the owner’s love of craft beer with a friendly, social, casual gathering of people from all over and from all walks of life. This is how beer and brewing was meant to be enjoyed. Conversation, meeting new people, making new friends, and enjoying an atmosphere that’s more like hanging out at a friend’s house than sitting in a bar. No sports playing on the TV. No loud bands to talk over. Just good beer, good people, and good times.
The idea for Lunacy Brewing Company was born in the summer of 2011. All four of us enjoy a good craft beer and during our journeys around the world, we have all tried many different brands and styles of beers. And every once in a while you come across a beer that makes you say to yourself, “I wonder if I could create a beer I’d enjoy as much as this one.” Well one night, we all decided it was time to see what we could come up with, and the rest is history.
We started brewing in the garage, like most craft brewers, and we made some really good beers and we made some that, well, didn’t quite turn out the way we wanted them to. We soon realized that in order to perfect our beer, we would need a bigger space. We always knew we wanted to do more than just make brewing a hobby and in January 2013, Lunacy Brewing Company became a legitimate business.
We do this because we love it.
And we’d love it a lot more if you’d stop in and drink some of our beer.
